And this is not a super technical question. This is my car’s factory horn, and it’s pretty loud. I’ve never actually heard another car (apart from similar-era Audis) with a horn that sounds quite like it. It seems fairly unique. What can anybody tell me about the note(s) and if it’s at all common? Ever heard one like it?
It’s much higher from the outside than from the inside.

Sounds like every other horn on the road.
Could always try to raid the VW parts bin and see if another car’s horn would work.

The free app on my phone says that this is an E. No idea if that’s right

I always thought most horns (at least on American cars) sounded a little lower, like this:

I would guess this is a B6? It sounds really close to my '13 Jetta.

It’s sounding notes G#4 and B4 in the key of E Major (scale degrees 3 and 5 of the root triad).

Is that common?

I don’t know how common those exact notes are, but most two-tone horns sound a major third interval, like yours.

“F” as in flipping off every other driver on the road.

Trucks are different. I have a midsize sedan horn on a subcompact. It works, people know I’m there, especially big trucks.
